Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said works are in progress with the target of holding the local poll by upcoming mid-May.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony for the Martyr Memorial Garden at Birendranagar of Rapti Municipality-9 in eastern Chitwan today, he said there was no more confusion among the political parties for holding elections. However, an atmosphere of consensus was yet to be created at the political sphere regarding the constitution amendment issue. The amendment was necessary for its greater acceptability, as the PM said, adding that the government was committed to implementing the issues incorporated in the constitution.

“Currently the country is in a special juncture in the history of country’s politics,” the PM stated.
He said that all political parties were equally responsible for implementing the constitution, underling the need of unity among political parties to fulfil such responsibility. The PM pledged to announce a special package for the speedy development of Chitwan.

The park that lies on the premises of the Birendra Adarsha Higher Secondary School features names of 104 people who attained martyrdom from the then rebelling CPN (Maoist) during the people’s war in the district. The construction of the park cost Rs 1.1 million, according to construction committee coordinator Khil Prasad Ghimire.
